I love a sustainable fashion brand and a lot of my focus recently has been on buying less and buying smart. Saint and Sofia is a rather new brand which got all my attention since the very first green delivery. The quality of fabrics is amazing, but for me it’s the minimalistic style and sustainability features that easily convinced me. It’s the simple, yet practical pieces that you can put together and turn a school run outfit into a going out mix pretty effortlessly. This is clothing with a story, one that should be heard by everyone who is looking to become a better eco worrier.

First things first!

Minimising their impact on the environment is huge on the brand’s agenda.  There’s a long list of how they work sustainably, starting with their packaging in bio-degradable and recycled materials. You’ll notice they’re using eco fabrics such as Ecovero, Cupro, Tencel and Econyl And only GOTS Certified Organic Cotton. I love dressing up on school runs, as I’m always on the go, my wardrobe needs to be as practical as possible, but I try to keep up with some of the current trends and Saint and Sofia can easily be both a treat and a practical choice for every busy mum like me!

Their green initiatives don’t stop here! Saint and Sofia’s goal is to plant 10 million trees in the next 10 years. To achieve this, all proceeds from the sale of certain products are donated to tree planting charities such as the Woodland Trust and Trees for Cities. For the last 3 years, the brand has been using a bio-degradable, compostable packaging for their product bags – rather than single-use plastic, should mention that they make these bags with a production partner in Europe with a specially designed formula with a potato starch base.

I’m a little bit obsessed with my black culottes in these photos, apart from being super comfortable, they’re great with all kind of footwear, I sometimes (if I’m lucky enough to get a leave night or a lunch with a friend) get my heels in my bag and swap them for my flats. They literally go with anything in my wardrobe!

There are days when you’ll see me style my cool Chelsea culottes with lots of tops on repeat, but this crop top (the Soho crop cardi) is always one of my first picks. Easy to give a splash of colour to any on the go outfit.

I LOVE a bright dress, but I’m often thinking about which technics are being used in the process of getting those fun colours so bright and how harmful they could be for the environment. These clothes you see in my pixels here use natural, organic and recycled fabrics that look and feel so great, with a reduced environmental impact, all made of organic cotton. And that’s what’s great about buying Saint and Sofia! Here’s my favourite bright Greenwich dress.

According to Saint and Sofia, non-organic cotton is one of the most treated crops on the planet. For 1 pound of raw cotton in the US, 1/3 pounds of synthetic fertilizers are used. 1 pound of raw cotton is roughly used to make a single t-shirt. In just one year in 2011, more than 2.03 billion pounds of synthetic fertilisers were used in the US alone. Conventional cotton also utilises between 3 and 5 times more energy to produce than organic cotton. Organic cotton is superior to conventional cotton in terms of increasing biodiversity, mitigating climate change by elimination of intensive fertilisers, reducing water contamination and consumption, preserving soil quality and reducing energy requirements. It’s also very soft on your skin making it good for you and good for nature.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I got a tennis lesson with my son, my recent tennis outfit is my school run favourite pair of leggings and an easy white tee, both amazing quality as I keep washing them and they look pretty much like the day I got them. You’ll find the shop here, feel free to browse or if you want to learn more about Saint and Sofia’s green strategies, you can find a wonderful read here.
