It goes without saying that nowadays we live colourful interesting summers. May it be due to the pretty lady strolling down the beach in those tiny bikinis Brazilian lush style you don’t even dare to touch on the shelves of the stores? Or may it be due to the holiday topless muses that keep distracting your husband’s eyes and the tan seekers who too often find themselves burnt and asleep for hours on the hot sand?

Well, whatever the reason, the things weren’t quite the same a century ago when people were not quite the little mermaids, yet there is proof they were sun, sea and sand lovers ever since the first photo camera managed to capture them making the most of these summer perks…

Here’s how fun on the beach looked like 100 years ago…

Swimsuits, long legs and red lipstick – a match made in heaven. Or let’s call it young Hollywood…

This looks like a hen beach party…Could I be wrong?

Summer up. Best gym, best buddies. Where? On the beach…

Boys, are you ready? Dukes getting ready for surfing in Australia…

Girls power. Children and men – not welcome – as they never follow the rules…

How wet tshirts contests had definitely started…

Umbrellas – when the sun is burning hot…

No tan for the royal one. Tan was still not considered ‘cool’ among the blue blood ones, yet a day at the beach was always a fun thing to do for the little royals…

The posing posers. Yes, photographers digged their studios in favour of white sand and blue waters beaches…

And the party continues. Fashion show on the beach.

But getting ready for the beach starts with a well deserved garden tan…

Fun fun fun for everyone. Including your house pet…

First, you test the waters…

…then you pose some more.

If not dress code ready for the beach, wrap up a picnic. And bring your hat. And ham…

Yes, working on together is the secret of rocking this outfit!

The beginning of yachting. I wouldn’t call these 5* accommodation units, but they look pretty adventurous.

Future ladies working on their social skills…

The beach Police working hard, making sure decency has never left the human spirit.

Tiny sand lover humans.

Love thy tent.

Beach Ascot perhaps?

Cool drier, no electricity, no bills.

Where the waves are gentle and listen to your whispering.

A perfect trio. Six pack, alluring curves and the left hand poser…

Sun protection scarfs and a cheerful crowd.

Mermaids in disguise

From royals to farmers and city workers everyone had gradually became a sea breeze seeker…
